Petra Jean Phillipson

Biography

30.01.2012 We launch  NOTES ON: DEATH our very 1st Montpatry Press production. The second LP in my burgeoning recorded trilogy of  ”Notes”. After completing a run of Church Concerts with the stunning M.N.Hopwood the bright lights of the South Bank Center beckoned with our live version (so far…) of NOTES ON DEATH to be played in THE PURCEL ROOM. With all of our stock SOLD OUT & a repressing underway we plan tours in UK & Europe with a smattering of intimate HOME CONCERTS .

2011 brought the thrill of putting into practice the last 6 years work. We launched our MONTPATRY PRESS at St Pancras Old Church, got involved in film making, Jam making, Studio building, sound installation, planting, inviting,  Montpatry Press talks & growing all of the above.”

I staged my 2nd theatrical production at The Print Room as Associate Artsist titled OF THE THINGS WE DO NOT SEE , a sound & light installation designed with a view to bringing your mind & body into balance.

“Encased within a white space, iridescent hues of red through to violet light pass. The ancient chant of Mongolian over tone singing creeps in to become a swarm; the harmonics build to form an otherworldly sound experience. Whilst in comfort we rest, light from above floods the space & our physical form. We can but feel.”

In 2010 Petra completed production on her second solo album entitled “NOTES ON: DEATH”.  She co-produced M.N.Hopwood’s debut album And to this Last, and composed her first film score for art house Parisian Director Philippe Vartan Khazarian’s ‘Deviation’.

Petra has been invited as an ‘Associate Artist’ at The Print Room Theatre founded by Lucy Bailey & Anda Winters in London. Here Petra has developed, staged & filmed “City of Lost Angels”, a PRE- LAUNCH theatrical performance using music from the forthcoming album. She is currently in the process of researching funding options for a theatrical tour in 2012.

In 2010 she also graduated as a Practitioner of Sound Healing &  is now a proud accredited member of The College of Sound Healing.

As a singer she has collaborated with David Holmes, Martina Topley Bird, Marie Anne Faithful, Nell Catchpole, Rodger Eno, Johnny Thunders Tribute Band,Tim Harries , Seb Roachford, Seferina Steer, Duke Garwood & Simon Tong. Petra has performed at many European festivals including Glastonbury, V festival, Green Man, Truck Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Meltdown, Popcom & Medem.
