Music for the Mind

2013 begins with an invite to research & develop “Of The Things We Do Not See” at The Barbican’s Pit Theatre in London . We are very happy with the outcome resulting in the development of a new piece to be shown at The Print Room. We are also to be included in this years season at The Grange Park Opera in Southampton.

Our questioning & development of “A Sound Mind” will be a strong focus for us this year with carrying out a double blind clinical test with a neuroscientist to measure the impact of  these compositions on stress related illness.

So as the great hunt for a Neuroscientist continues, I don my white suit & lead my workshop on singing from the heart, practicing song cycles, interval balancing song, String drones & some very beautiful ascending normal scale singing with Clemmie Franks, Tara Franks & Elena. Please see below a rough sketch of the beginnings of our Drone cycle.

Montpatry Press Basements Tapes are digging out Petra Jean Phillipson’s recordings of a tribute to here favorite singer, Karen Dalton. Originally recorded for Youth’s Label “What The Folk”back in 2006, sadly the label like many small independents at that time got funding   closed down before its release. A mixture of LIVE & studio recordings can be found here in this very limited edition release.

Her band includes the masterful Mr Paul May on Drums,Mr Dom Lash on bass, Nell Catchpole on Viola,Mr Simon Tong on Guitar, Trevor Moss & Hanna Lou on Guitar & Banjo.

An extra special track by Mr Duke Garwood covering Karens “Yesterday” will also be included on this fragile & imitate dedication to Karen Dalton.

BAUHAUS – Art as Life

The Bauhaus, Desseau, Germany. Our place of unlearning.

The beautiful mind

of Theadore Zeldin introduces us to open our questioning of how we as artists can effect social change .To consider this moment in history as the end of the individual.

“We do not teach anyone anything all we can do is stimulate.”

A truly inspiring introduction by Theadore Zeldin for our next two weeks of questioning, challenging & preparation for our  intellectual & creative evolution.
